Terms of Use

These conditions govern access to and use of Schuyler County Criminal History. Visiting a page, reading its content, or submitting a query through an available tool signifies acceptance. Anyone who does not agree should stop using the site.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website has no affiliation with a local, New York, or federal government body. It is not a private investigation firm or a consumer reporting agency. Neither the site nor its advertising partners offers a service for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or any other Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) decision. Its purpose is to route readers to Schuyler County and New York criminal-record resources.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site with no government relationship. It neither stores official criminal records nor obtains records, performs official checks, or files papers for a visitor.

Its content identifies offices that maintain Schuyler County criminal records, including the Sheriff's Records Division, New York court clerks, the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, and the New York State Sex Offender Registry. New York's Freedom of Information Law applies to public agencies, while Executive Law §837 defines DCJS functions. Those laws do not make this private resource a records custodian.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Users agree not to:

  • Use the site in violation of federal, New York, or local law
  • Threaten, stalk, or harass a person with information found here
  • Use site content for an employment, housing, credit, or insurance decision
  • Attempt unauthorized entry into any site system
  • Deploy bots, scrapers, or other automated collection tools
  • Interfere with performance or prevent another visitor's access

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Information from this site or a linked tool may not be used to stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or unlawfully discriminate. The restriction is especially important for New York State Sex Offender Registry data. Correction Law §168-p addresses misuse, and registry information is supplied for personal, family, and community safety, never vigilantism or confrontation.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Schuyler County Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA. It produces no credit report, background check, or other consumer report. Data from this site or a linked tool must not be used to:

  • Make a hiring or termination decision
  • Evaluate a renter or housing application
  • Set insurance terms or assess creditworthiness
  • Determine eligibility for a license, permit, or government benefit
  • Carry out any other FCRA-regulated decision

A legally permitted regulated check must come from an appropriate official channel or a consumer reporting company that complies with the FCRA.

5. No Legal Advice

The material is general information, not legal advice. Only a licensed New York attorney can assess how a charge, conviction, warrant, or record-sealing rule applies to a particular set of facts.

6. No Warranties

All content and services are provided "as is." No guarantee is made that:

  • Any information is complete, accurate, or current
  • The site will operate without interruption
  • Every page is free of bugs, errors, or security weaknesses
  • An outside search provider will return a complete or accurate result

Charges, dispositions, sealing status, and agency procedures can change. Gaps are unavoidable, and nothing published here is an official statement of a court, sheriff, DCJS, or other government agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links lead to sheriff, court, state-agency, legal-aid, and outside search services. Each destination controls its own content, availability, fees, privacy practices, and terms. Review those terms before using an external service.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code belong to Schuyler County Criminal History or its content partners. Copying, distributing, modifying, or creating derivative material requires prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, the site is not liable for damages arising from its use, including reliance on material found here or through a linked service.

10. Indemnification

Users agree to hold the site harmless against claims, demands, or actions caused by their use or breach of these terms, including related legal fees and costs.

11. Governing Law

New York law governs these terms. Any dispute tied to use of the site must be brought in a court located in New York.

12. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be changed. A revision becomes effective when the replacement text is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be limited or blocked at any time, with or without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms continue. The affected provision will be adjusted only as far as necessary to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be directed through the Contact page.
