Search Queries
A name or place entered into a search tool is sent to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider handles the query and supplies its results. Schuyler County Criminal History does not keep a separate log of those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email may be retained long enough to review and answer it. Its contents remain within the organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Normal server logs may capture technical details when a page loads:
- Page-view dates and times
- Browser type and version
- Device category and operating system
- Pages viewed and approximate time spent
- The referring website, when one is supplied
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They and analytics services help show aggregate traffic patterns, such as popular pages and common exit points. A browser can block cookies, though disabling them may change how some features behave.

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Schuyler County Criminal History does not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general routing information for the Sheriff's Records Division, New York courts, the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, and the New York State Sex Offender Registry. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party criminal files.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes and apply their own privacy terms to information submitted there. Each provider controls its retention and sharing practices. Review the applicable provider policy before entering a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to sheriff, court, state-agency, legal-aid, or third-party search pages. Once a visitor follows an outside link, that destination's privacy terms govern the visit. Check them before providing personal data.
Advertising services may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select ads. Their tracking is outside this site's direct control.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- Search partners that process submitted queries
- Advertising networks that serve page advertisements
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices are used to protect collected data. No internet system can guarantee perfect security, so a breach or unauthorized access cannot be ruled out.
Users Under 18
This resource is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Information known to have been submitted by a minor will be deleted when identified.
Your Data Rights
Applicable privacy or consumer-protection law may create further rights. New York's Freedom of Information Law governs records held by public agencies, while Executive Law §837 helps define DCJS criminal-history functions. Neither turns this private site into a government records office. For information held here, you may:
- Request access to personal data kept about you
- Ask that inaccurate personal data be corrected
- Request deletion where applicable law permits it
- Object to certain processing where a legal right applies
